Martha Stewart, I'm Not
Dec. 9th, 2004 06:50 pmSo, I'm making this mushroom recipe. I like mushrooms, and the mushrooms were on sale, so I thought, hey, I'll try that recipe I found.
Except I'm making the low-rent version, because it calls for cognac, and I'm not of legal drinking age. And there's apparently not a store in Tuscaloosa that sells bread crumbs (and I couldn't think of what the hell I'd use the rest of the bread crumbs for anyway) so I'm using smushed-up saltines. And dried tarragon instead of fresh, and I didn't have time to clarify the butter...the list goes on and on.
So, I'm supposed to put it under the broiler after putting 'breadcrumbs' on top. For three to four minutes. That sounds like an awful long time to leave them under the broiler, I think, but I do it. Shut the oven door...and smell smoke.
They were already on fire. Go me!
