Lost: Deus ex Machina
Mar. 30th, 2005 08:24 pmOH NOES BOONE! (Though it figures that when they found a working radio, the person who found it would be horribly mangled and the person with him would lie about it. And it figures that Locke's flashbacks would continue to show him as a pitiable character.
Hee, Sawyer's glasses! Hurley's one line of the episode made my mother laugh, which was good, because up until that point she'd been looking at me with something like horror as I tried to explain the plotlines.
"And that's Boone."
"That's Ian Something-or-other! I remember him!"
"Yes. He plays Boone. Locke knocked him unconscious, tied him to a tree, and smeared hallucinogenic fruit goop in his wound, and now Boone trusts him utterly."
*look of horror*
"Boone is in love-slash-hate with his stepsister, the one with the asthma, who is kind of dating Sayid."
"We like Shannon and Sayid. Next to Charlie and his amnesiac super-pregnant ladylove, they're the most functional couple on the island."
"Okay, wait, I saw her. The one who looks like she's about to pop."
"Yes, that's Claire. She's approximately thirteen months pregnant. She was about to go into labor when she was kidnapped by Crazy Island Man Ethan Rom, who she escaped from a few weeks later without her memory. But still pregnant."
*look of horror*
"Who's that?"
"Sawyer."
"He's kind of cute."
"Yes. Yes, he is."
"What's his story?" *suspicious pause* "I'm not going to like it, am I?"
"Sawyer, as a child, hid under the bed while his father killed his mother and then himself. He then became a con man. After the crash, he gathered up all the important stuff, and instead of asking him nicely, people use various methods of diplomacy such as laughing at his misfortune, tying him up, stabbing him in the arm, and punching him in his stabbed arm to get stuff."
*look of horror*
"The one person who asked him for something nicely and didn't lie to him got what he wanted right away, with no fuss. Oh, and Sawyer likes kidlit. We actually like Sawyer."
"Okay, that's Sayid. He's the guy who tortured Sawyer."
"He tortured him??"
"Well, Jack told him to."
*look of horror*
"And Jack's the doctor?"
"Yes."
"And he told him to torture him??"
"Yes, but we like Sayid and we don't like Jack...okay, it was like this."
