Yeah, so, the Serenity trailer's not in front of H2G2. I feel somewhat ripped off. If anyone does know what movies it's actually playing in front of, please tell me. I will go see freaking House of Wax (okay, the trailers before House of Wax) if it'll get me the Serenity trailer on a great big screen.

And then there's the funny story about how I followed the directions I printed out from teh intarweb instead of just going where I thought the theater was, and so it took me two tries and a combined three hours to find the damned place instead of the twenty minutes it should have.

Of course I took a towel.

That kind of rocked. No, it's not a word-for-word adaptation of the book, but we knew that. The audience spent large sections of the movie laughing out loud. And I was not the only one there with a towel. As a matter of fact one girl lamented, "I left my towel in the car!" when she saw me with mine looped around my neck.

Yes, there's a romantic subplot with Arthur and Trillian that left me scratching my head. Quite frankly, I thought he had more chemistry with Ford. There's a scene on the Vogon ship where Ford looks at Arthur, says, "You're sweating," and gently dabs his face off with his towel, and it's like, the most romantic thing. But maybe that's just me.

I went to see it today. I can't believe I didn't think to bring a towel. I suck!

You do, indeed, suck. For shame. *smilie*

So tell me, am I crazy, or was there chemistry between Ford and Arthur?

Well Ford did choose to save Arthur. And Arthur had the best chemistry with Ford. OTP?

Yes, I think they are OTP.

*goes to rummage up "Aliens Make Ford and Arthur Have Sex"*

I especially liked how they never gave any explanation for the towel in the movie. And Alan Rickman!

But they did demonstrate the usefulness of the noble towel in several instances, such as when Ford is romancingcomforting Arthur, and when Trillian was showering. And Ford hid behind his several times, for some reason.

Alan Rickman was such a terrific Marvin!

Oh definitely! I just loved that there was never an explanation per se.

Crap. Is my memory so bad that I didn't realize the Arthur/Trillian thing isn't canon? I haven't gotten through the entire series of the books, so I sort of figured whatever they did in the movie was something that happened later on. I can't remember now.

I said in my own post I found the romance a bit too sappy and cliched, but given how awesome the rest of the movie was, I was willing to overlook it.

Mos Def + towels = teh awesome.

Yeah, it's totally non-canon. Later in the series--well, I won't spoil you, but needless to say, Trillian and Arthur are not OTP. Ford and Arthur, now, I think that's an entirely different story.

Mos Def was an awesome Ford. (and I forgot to mention this over on your post, but Arthur does say something about, "Well, that explains your accent," and how he'd always wondered about Ford's non-Guilford-ish accent, when he realizes Ford really is from another planet.)

Ah. I probably missed that when the audience was laughing.

Now that you mention it, you're right that Arthur/Trillian is non-canon. I think I appreciated that about the books, actually. Hmm. I need to re-read, methinks.

and then
English lit final Friday at eight.

So what I'm trying to say here is yes, they are.
