One Hoopy Frood
Apr. 29th, 2005 09:15 pmYeah, so, the Serenity trailer's not in front of H2G2. I feel somewhat ripped off. If anyone does know what movies it's actually playing in front of, please tell me. I will go see freaking House of Wax (okay, the trailers before House of Wax) if it'll get me the Serenity trailer on a great big screen.
And then there's the funny story about how I followed the directions I printed out from teh intarweb instead of just going where I thought the theater was, and so it took me two tries and a combined three hours to find the damned place instead of the twenty minutes it should have.
Of course I took a towel.
That kind of rocked. No, it's not a word-for-word adaptation of the book, but we knew that. The audience spent large sections of the movie laughing out loud. And I was not the only one there with a towel. As a matter of fact one girl lamented, "I left my towel in the car!" when she saw me with mine looped around my neck.
Yes, there's a romantic subplot with Arthur and Trillian that left me scratching my head. Quite frankly, I thought he had more chemistry with Ford. There's a scene on the Vogon ship where Ford looks at Arthur, says, "You're sweating," and gently dabs his face off with his towel, and it's like, the most romantic thing. But maybe that's just me.

Date: 2005-04-30 08:23 am (UTC)I said in my own post I found the romance a bit too sappy and cliched, but given how awesome the rest of the movie was, I was willing to overlook it.
Mos Def + towels = teh awesome.

Date: 2005-04-30 08:29 am (UTC)Mos Def was an awesome Ford. (and I forgot to mention this over on your post, but Arthur does say something about, "Well, that explains your accent," and how he'd always wondered about Ford's non-Guilford-ish accent, when he realizes Ford really is from another planet.)
