I should have seen this coming.

I mean, come on. It's a show about gay. Very pretty gay, from the assorted icons I've observed. How could I not love that? All it needs is some swordfights and I'd be its neverending slave. And Julie pushes it heavy, and generally Julie's got good taste*. She even finally converted me to Farscape, damn her, ages after it was cancelled.

So of course I was going to get sucked in eventually. But the problem with Queer as Folk is, basically, the same one I had with Farscape. The channel it airs on? Yeah, I don't get that one. And at the moment, I don't have the bank to make DVDs a possibility.

I've been reading QAF fic compulsively for like, three days now. It's finals week, so I need to be distracted periodically, and QAF fic is really good for this because look! Porn! About characters I haven't read about before! So um, yeah. I've basically been turned into a Brian/Justin 'shipper without ever having seen a second of the show. It's kind of interesting.

Next on my agenda (besides passing English lit) is actually seeing an episode of QAF. Wish me luck.

*Okay, there was that one three-year incident in the late nineties known as Roswell, but I'm certainly in no position to be throwing stones over that one.

Edited to shut Auroura up.

Get thee to a Blockbuster!

Or hit J up for tapes, one or the other.

Hee! Well, that's an interesting way to get into a fandom. QAF fic is the awesomest. The good fic is SO GOOD and the bad fic is SO BAD. Both are equally entertaining, imo.

I've basically been turned into a Brian/Justin 'shipper without ever having seen a second of the show. It's kind of interesting.

Whee! The good ship B/J doesn't really start to pick up steam until late S1, so it's good to know you've been brainwashed in advance. *g*

I feel perhaps you are fishing for a tape. Yes? I shall add you to the queue.

For the longest time, I talked and talked and talked about this, and I couldn't get anyone to watch. Now everyone's watching at once! Happy sigh.

This isn't the first fandom I've been sucked into by the fanfic, surprisingly enough. What can I say, I like to read.

I have been assimilated.

Actually, you can hold off on that. One of my friends is looking to offload some of her DVD collection (rather than haul it cross-country), and I may be able to get season one on the cheap. It's like the stars are aligning!

*Okay, there was that one three-year incident in the mid-nineties known as Roswell, but I'm certainly in no position to be throwing stones over that one.

MID-nineties? Do they not teach you how to count down there, red-stater? If I recall correctly (and admittedly, one season of that god-forsaken show was enough to fuck up the wiring in my brain for a good two decades), the show started in 1999. So unless you're operating under the sociopolitical assumption that no decade really "begins" until you are well into the chronological middle of it -- no.

You see the timestamp on this little entry? That was BEFORE I went to bed. I think we're doing well that's the only mistake I made, punk.
