And Then The Russian Beauties Dance

Today, the Russian Club took a special field trip to a festival at the Russian Orthodox Church in Birmingham.

What no one told us before we left was that the church was by a white trash ghetto (no less than three trailer parks!), down several small and twisty roads. The girls took Sofya's Mini, and a good thing, because any other car would have totally missed the turn several times and gone off in the ditch that one time (it was a bonding experience).

Zhenya: It is okay, my father is a redneck! I will attempt to communicate!

The food was fantastic, and there were ickle kids performing Russian folk dances, which was also fabulous. And adorable.

And now, I am attempting to learn about Russian culture before the big exam tomorrow. Is anyone else scared by the idea of Russian opera, or is it just me?

That was soooo much fun. I definitely saw my life flash before my eyes when we ALMOST (thanks to Sasha saving us) ran into the ditch (While Drozd was watching in his car). Oh man. Good times. Great food. Fun dancing. Woo!

I got to go to a Russian Orthodox wedding a year ago. It RULED, and the church was totally beautiful. Also, there was more vodka at the reception than I've ever seen in my life. And old people standing on tables pounding vodka. Fantastic.
