My BFF is a coffee fiend. She loves the stuff. She has a freakin' espresso machine. Given the chance and the budget, she would gladly drink the cat poop coffee. There's just one giant honkin' problem: she's just been told she needs to eliminate caffeine from her diet.

Needless to say, she is Not Thrilled.

So, I'm wondering where I can find decent-to-high-quality (or at least not sin against God) decaf to cheer her up with. Any suggestions?

Order her some decaf from Peets, they have excellent coffee. I'm also a big fan of Blue Bottle Coffee (they're a local roaster to me, and make great coffee). Both of these places are a little pricy, but would be good Christmas or whatever presents. Just a note, though, decaf does have traces amount of caffeine in it.

I don't think trace amounts will be a problem--it's not like she has a heart condition or something where the caffeine is going to kill her. She just has sore boobs.

I knew it was going to be pricy, because Alton Brown said that to get good decaf, you have to start with high-quality coffee, and then the process to decaffeinate it costs money, so. Yes. But this is for Christmas, so I'm not freaking out over a couple of bucks extra.

Poor baby with the sore boobs. And yeah, either of those places will have high quality decaf. I haven't had the Blue Bottle decaf, but I've been told that it's good, and I have had the Peets decaf, and it's pretty tasty, comparitively.
