A Mystery

Ah, the wonders of internet commerce. A while back, I ordered some rookie chopsticks from Sur La Table because I suck at chopsticks and this seemed an appropriate halfway measure. I used a credit card which draws on my mother's account to make this order.

Then, a few weeks ago, I got an e-mail confirmation of an order from Sur La Table. My first instinct was to go, "WTF IDENTITY THEFT?" but no, whatever it was (for the item was not identified in the e-mail) had been shipped to my parents' house. It arrived before Thanksgiving, according to the UPS tracker, and I was in my parents' kitchen a lot during Thanksgiving break. There were no new shiny items, nor did my mother so much as mention anything new. And my mother knows how I am about new shiny kitchen items.

I have come to what I feel is a logical conclusion: the order was a Christmas present for me, and my mother did not realize the confirmation e-mail would go to me due to my pre-existing account with the website. And now I really really really want to know what it was, and keep looking over their website for things my mother might think I would like. This is probably not healthy, as it is entirely possible I'm wrong here and the order is not for me, but I'm like a magpie. Ooh, shinies!

I really hope it's a roasting pan. Or a nice kettle. That would be good, too.
