Materialist Rundown
Dec. 25th, 2006 10:10 pmAn alarm clock*
A can opener*
A red striped nightshirt with a bell**
Bath & Body Works Mango Mandarin shower gel
Three nesting boxes
A set of red melamine mixing bowls, measuring cups, and measuring spoons
AN ICE CREAM MAKER OMG ♥ ♥***
A Wal-Mart gift card
Monies
I also got a copy of Alton Brown's I'm Just Here For the Food but I already have it, so I gave it to Mom.
*These were from my dad, who waited until 7 PM December 23rd to do his shopping.
**My mom labeled this one 'From George and Bailey' and colored one of the polar bears on the wrapping paper with Bailey's markings (George is already white) because they WOULD NOT leave the bell alone when she was trying to wrap it.
***IT IS PINK. HOW COOL IS THAT? Also, this is what was ordered from Sur La Table.
At Christmas dinner, we were talking about old recipes when my aunt walked by the table and asked my mom, "Do you remember that thing Mother used to make with lime Jell-o and shrimp?"
Yes, that's right. Lime Jell-o. And shrimp. In one dish.
After the gales of laughter and the discussion over such a thing would go on the dessert table or with the appetizers, and my mom's avowal that she remembered no such dish, I decided to Google it when we got home. And, um. It does exist.
We'll be making it for the next family gathering. Just for the hell of it.
