So I have a group presentation due for one of my classes on Monday. We are planning to show some short clips from Ocean's Eleven as part of our presentation, except none of us know how to, you know, make clips. It turns out I'm slightly more computer savvy than the other three group members, so I got tagged. If I don't figure out how to do it by Friday we're coming up with a Plan B, but...I do not want to have to go to Plan B. We're already down one slacker group member, I don't want to compound our problems.

So basically, how do I do it? Is there a program I need, and if so, can it be obtained for free? What do I do? I'm completely clueless and headdesking for agreeing to do this. HELP.

This is mzlizzy husband the guy who teaches computer. If you are using a PC here are some suggestions:

Step one is you must take the movie off the DVD. This process is known as ripping. The site below has several different software that you can try. Pick one that works for you.

http://www.share2.com/dvdripper/

Save your file as a quicktime movie, AVI or MPEG. You don't have to save them in each format, just pick one and stay with it for each part of the movie.

For simple editing of the movie that you have converted, I would suggest the free 30 day trail of Premiere Elements. I personally use Final Cut and Premiere pro, but they take a while to learn.

You can down load Adobe Premiere Elements at the following site.

https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?loc=en%5Fus&product=premiere%5Felements

After you have edited your movie you can either put it back onto a DVD or export it out as a quicktime movie, AVI or MPEG movie.

I hope that his helps.

If you have an avi file of it, you can use VirtualDub to make clips from it. Free, and pretty small-sized.

If you need to rip it from a dvd.... it gets complicated. And not so free, if you want a fairly user-friendly experience.

...pretend this is the right journal.

I don't have an avi file, sadly. I'm trying to rip it using one of the software thingies recommended in the comment above yours, and...it's not going well. *cries*
