I have this blue throw that I've had since high school. It is super comfortable; when I lived in the dorms I had to buy my roommate one because she kept snitching mine. Then her little brother stole that one when she took it home over the break. The problem is, it's kind of chenille-y, and now that it's getting old it sheds, and I was sick of cleaning up little navy fuzzbits all the time. So I decided to, with some of my birthday money, get a new throw to keep on the couch and only break the old one out for special occasions. I found a really nice one at Target; it's kind of blue-green and soft, but it's not chenille-y so I knew I wouldn't have to worry about it shedding all over everything. I bought it this morning and draped it over the arm of the couch. It looked nice. It brought some color to the room; everything was very neutral before. I was thinking about getting some throw pillows in the same color family, maybe even splurging on like a print or something.

I went to my first class this evening. Since I've been home, I've been pretty much at my desk or in the kitchen, but a few minutes ago I decided to start tidying up before bed and went over by the couch...to find the new throw on the floor, ruined. I mean, seriously. There are holes. One of the cats had decided to sharpen their claws on it and picked it all to hell.

Now, I know that when one lives with cats one's possessions are like to suffer. But there's a scratching post they use regularly right there and I was in possession of this thing for less than twelve hours. Can I not catch a break?
