Random Fandom Thoughts Roundup
Jul. 17th, 2008 03:30 pm1. Dammit, someone suggested Daniel Craig for the Captain America movie and now I can't unsee it. Sure he's really really British and too old, but he's also blond and incredibly blue-eyed and he's built like wow.
2. On the same note, I don't know if she can act at all, but I propose Anya Garnis from last season of So You Think You Can Dance for Black Widow in the Avengers movie. Hell, she wouldn't even have to act half the time, she'd just have to stand there and be a hot Russian (with a dance background, even!) sexing up the place. Cake!
3. In Torchwood news, I've finally successfully fanwanked something that was bothering me about "Exit Wounds." I was kind of annoyed that Gray called Jack 'Jack,' because we know he's not originally Jack and there's no reason for Gray to call him by that alias, but I recently realized, duh, there's no reason to believe they were speaking English to each other. Their conversation was just being conveniently 'translated' for our benefit. So they just went ahead and 'translated' Jack's name to something familiar to the viewers, too!'
4. If you're not watching Middleman, you should be. This week's episode had flying fish that turn people into zombies. COME ON people what more do you want?
5. Is it wrong that I kind of want to learn German because of a soap opera's adorable gay boys?
6. Superhero/Comic Book movies wot I have seen this season
Iron Man: AWESOME. Everyone knows this by now.
The Incredible Hulk: Not in Iron Man's league, but so much better than that Ang Lee mess it had to live down that I give it full props.
Wanted: Certain elements could have been better, and I'm not saying more because I don't want to have to cut for spoilers, but overall it was very reminiscent of other movies I've seen by Timur Bekmambetov (You should all go rent Night Watch). Also, Angelina Jolie is hot like burning.
Hancock: Better than I was expecting. Maybe it's the Highlander fan in me, but I wanted more backstory than we got.
Hellboy 2: Visually great, plotwise, meh. It felt like we've seen most of this before, and done better.
The Dark Knight: Not yet. SOON.

Date: 2008-07-17 09:14 pm (UTC)I find myself inexplicably agreeing on Daniel Craig. He *is* too old, but... yu need gravitas to be Cap, you know? I'm trying to think of someone younger who'd work better, but...
TROUT. Seriously. And I love that they take Wendy's friendships seriously, even in the midst of totally silly adventures.
X-Files and Dark Knight, Sooooooooon.

Date: 2008-07-17 09:23 pm (UTC)If Daniel Craig can do a decent American accent I think he's essentially perfect. They can make him look younger with makeup or something, surely. Although I can't see him skinnied down for the pre-supersoldier bits. Hrm.

Date: 2008-07-18 12:58 am (UTC)Pasha is *very* not hard on the eyes, and knows how to move, wow. Saw a montage clip for him, and it was clear that he was really doing more later.
ZOMBIEEEEEEES.

Date: 2008-07-18 01:35 am (UTC)According to internet gossip, which, we all know how reliable that is, but, Pasha had a blood clot in his neck and Anya dragged him to the doctor and basically saved his life, but the blood thinners made him miserable for quite a while. Considering that she also made him try out for the show (he could have been there and not tried out; apparently in the early stages they let ballroom dancers dance with their partners even if the partner isn't officially trying out, but she talked him into it) I get the feeling Anya is a toppy force of awesome in his life, which makes me love them both more. The world needs more Pasha and Anya.

Date: 2008-07-18 01:25 am (UTC)HELL NO. Not if they're the adorabe gay boys I think they are.
Also, I took a year and a half of German, pretty much for the hell of it, and I thought it was a very fun language to learn and I still wish I'd started out with that instead of Spanish, even if I have had absolutely no opportunity to put it to use.
*is on the Middleman bandwagon*
