The Dark Knight, First Impressions
Jul. 18th, 2008 04:53 pm1. Absolutely outstanding.
2. No, really, when I walked out of the theater my hands were shaking.
3. Heath Ledger was a genius and he is greatly missed. Holy crap.
4. I want a Batcycle.
5. I hereby add Aaron Eckhart to my list of people who the world wouldn't end if they played Captain America.
6. I could watch the Watchmen trailer all damn day.
7. We didn't get the Twilight trailer, though.
8. I find it kind of hilarious and weird that they didn't actually cast Barbara Gordon. You only ever see the top of her head. Hell, I don't think they even refer to her by name. Little Jimmy Gordon gets told to go play with his sister once, and then she's cowering under her mom's arm, and...that's it.
9. Did I mention absolutely outstanding?

Date: 2008-07-19 04:26 am (UTC)I noticed this, too, and said something to DH as soon as the credits rolled. He was like, "Maybe this version won't go all the way to Batgirl." A Batverse without Batgirl? Bite thy tongue!
Still, I think it's very strange that you never hear her mentioned or see her, other than as a screaming red-headded child in a highchair.
As for the rest... I think I love James Gordon. ::flails::

Date: 2008-07-19 05:29 pm (UTC)Okay this metaphor was much better before I remembered The Killing Joke, but as I was saying in TBQ's entry, how tragic is it that we won't get to see Ledger knock The Killing Joke out of the park now?
But getting back to my original point, there was also that reference to the suit standing up to cats, so I have high hopes that the third movie will be chick-heavy, or at least Starring Selina Kyle Kicking Your Ass, Yes Yours.
James Gordon is awesome.
