Dear Yulethor!

Hi! I know this is a little late, and I'm sorry about that. But better late than never, right?

First things first: THERE ARE SPOILERS FOR THE DEMON'S LEXICON IN THIS LETTER. It is the fourth and last fandom. If you weren't matched on that one and haven't read it, and think you might want to in the future, I would advise skipping that part.

1. Lauren McLaughlin - Cycler

Jill and Jack fascinate me, and one thing in the book that interested me is how the alternating chapters mean we functionally get less Jill than Jack--Jill's around, what, 6/7 of the time (I could be wrong, I suck at math), but Jack gets equal time. And by skipping the summer between Cycler and (Re)Cycler, we miss a lot of Jill coping with the breakdown of Plan B--quite frankly she's much better adjusted by the start of (Re)Cycler than I figured she would be. So I'd like to see something dealing with that skipped summer, maybe. Or, since the books are first-person, someone else's viewpoint could be really interesting.

2. Hopeless Savages

So in my request I said I think this is the best family possibly in all of fiction and I wasn't kidding. I just love this family and want to see more of them. So I threw out a few random ideas: Something with Nikki and Dirk as a young couple. Or Twitch and Henry's adorable and interrupted romance. Or something about Rat during his time as Dave Sterling. But please do not feel yourself limited by these. I would prefer something not dark on this one: for the Hopeless-Savages, I feel like fluff and crack and happy endings are the order of the day.

3. Vivian Vande Velde - Dragons Bait

I know, I know. Yulethors hate to see 'Anything will make me happy!' because it doesn't give much to go on, but really, it would. I mean, this is a book where the maiden being sacrificed to the dragon makes friends with him and gets back at the villagers for trying to get her eaten. How awesome is that? Something with Alys and Selendrile kicking around together after the end of the book and possibly getting into all sorts of trouble was my main idea, but if you come up with something else that's cool, too, I'd just love to see fic for this book. Gen or shippy, either would be great!

4. Sarah Rees Brennan - The Demons Lexicon

(THIS ONE HAS SPOILERS IN.)

Dear God, I can hear you thinking. She wants incest. Please don't run away! Gen would also be awesome! It's just that...okay, look, I blame Wincest. And I don't even watch Supernatural. But I was reading the book and noticed like, a lot of parallels between the brothers Winchester and the brothers Ryves, and then I got to the end of the book and found myself thinking, "Oh, but they're not actually related so it's okay!" and realized what I'd just thought and now I can't unthink it. I am sorry if you also now cannot unthink it unless of course it inspires you to write awesome fic.

Anyway, at the end of the Demon's Lexicon it's like, Alan and Nick are going to go home and sit on the couch and eat cereal and Nick's not going to end the world and everything's going to be okay! Except Nick's blown off at least a week of school (I am guessing Alan is going to still make him go), their mother's dead and they can't even produce a body, their car was abandoned on Tower Bridge and presumably towed, and they've been cut off from the Goblin Market. So them trying to put their lives back together Now With Extra Demon Action could be a thing? Or, as I said in my request, Alan trying to raise Nick right and possibly Nick thinking Alan is being ridiculous because Tiny Scowling Nick and Tiny Fretting Alan will probably never stop being a hilarious mental image to me. So....yeah. Brothers Ryves for the win!

I think that's about it, except for that one thing of absolutely critical importance I have no doubt forgotten. Please, don't panic, and if the spirit moves you to write something completely different from my suggestions, that's cool. I'll just be deliriously happy to get a story.

ZOMG THANK YOU IN ADVANCE,
Ziho

I totally don't know you, but I think it's fabulous that someone else loves Hopeless Savages! I actually got fic in that fandom for Yuletide last year.

Oh my god, I'm going to echo ms. Bookwench above me and say hi, I don't know you, but OMG CYCLER.

I wish I had read that book before signups closed, or I would have been on that request so fast. And I totally agree with your assessment of Jill's mental state at the beginning of (Re)cycle.

Also, Demon's Lexicon FTW. You obviously have excellent taste in books.
