It's Hollywood, I'm sure they'd find a way to make an even more spectacular mess out of it than this, if they only tried. I mean, there was a script that Neil Gaiman kind of approved, and I read it, and even the changes they made would've pissed me off. I can't imagine what the nice Hollywood people would make of it on their own.

Sure, the Sandman section of FF.net has far too many angstbunny "A girl talks with Death after her pet dies/dances with Dream on her prom night" stories, but it's more or less free of the abject stupidity that infects the rest of the site.
